Tony Neil Butler

I’m an actor and writer living in New York City. Equally at home with Shakespeare and the classics as with TV, film, and contemporary American drama, I trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. I can play suits or working class—New York lawyer or NYPD, Boston or Texas, British or Irish. In February 2020 I participated in a reading at Urban Stages, directed by Paul Dervis, of the relevant and perceptive Frank Cossa play, The Bishop and The Boys, in which I played one of the leads—a Jesuit priest from Belfast investigating an allegation of sexual abuse in the United States. Recent TV work in the fall of 2019 has included co-starring roles as a squash court attendant in the upcoming Netflix series Inventing Anna, and as an IAB chief in the CBS show Blue Bloods. Other TV credits include Bull, The Blacklist and Quantico. I also wrote, produced, and starred in my first short film, Creative Billing—a somewhat wicked take, based on true events at a one-time day job, on the hallowed halls of law.
